This apprenticeship is for people who want to support children or young people with their learning in a school or education setting. It is suited to those working, or preparing to work, as teaching assistants, learning support assistants, classroom assistants or specialist support staff. You should enjoy helping learners build confidence, take part in lessons and make progress.
What experience and skills will you gain?
You will learn how to support teaching and learning, work with individuals and groups, help prepare resources, encourage positive behaviour and support inclusion. You will develop knowledge of child development, safeguarding, special educational needs and disabilities, assessment, communication, curriculum support and the safe use of digital technology. You will also learn how to work effectively with teachers, parents, carers and other professionals.

How will you be assessed?
You will be assessed through workplace evidence, observations, assessor reviews, written tasks, professional discussions and preparation for End Point Assessment. You will need to show that you can support learning safely, communicate effectively, follow safeguarding procedures and work well as part of the wider education team.

This apprenticeship can lead to roles such as teaching assistant, learning support assistant, classroom assistant, special educational needs support assistant or pastoral support assistant. With further experience and training, it may also support progression to higher-level teaching assistant roles, specialist support roles or teacher training pathways.
