Students studying T Level Engineering at South Bank Colleges recently had the exciting opportunity to visit the headquarters of Beko Europe UK in Peterborough, giving them valuable insight into the engineering industry and workplace environments.

The visit was designed to help students connect their classroom learning with real industry practice while developing a deeper understanding of engineering careers and professional expectations.
During the trip, students took part in a comprehensive health and safety briefing before enjoying a guided tour of the site and a Q&A session with members of the Beko team. They also participated in a range of engaging activities focused on engineering roles, employability skills, and career pathways within the industry.
As part of the experience, students were introduced to several departments across the organisation, including Customer Services, Sales, IT, and Logistics. This provided a broader understanding of how different teams work together within a large business and highlighted the important role each department plays in supporting engineering operations.
The visit gave students a clearer picture of the skills, behaviours, and communication needed within the workplace, while also helping to build confidence and raise aspirations for future careers in engineering.
Students remained highly engaged throughout the day, asking thoughtful questions and showing enthusiasm for future opportunities within the sector.
One student shared their thoughts following the visit:
“It was really useful to see how engineering works in a real company and learn about the different job roles available. I would really love to have a placement with them, and I’m looking forward to completing the Employer Led Project with them over the summer. It would be great to gain some real industry experience.”
Experiences like this are an important part of our commitment to providing students with meaningful employer engagement opportunities that prepare them for successful futures in industry.
