Students recently took part in an Apprenticeship Pathways and Employer Insight event that provided valuable insight into the wide range of apprenticeship opportunities available across LSBU Group. The event aimed to help students explore different career pathways and understand how apprenticeships can support long term career development.
During the session students were introduced to the variety of apprenticeships offered within LSBU Group across different sectors and levels. These pathways allow students to gain hands on workplace experience while studying towards recognised qualifications. The event highlighted how apprenticeships offer a practical and rewarding alternative route into employment.
A key highlight of the event was hearing from two current apprentices Dylan and Leart who work at Troup Bywaters + Anders. They shared their personal experiences of being apprentices and spoke about their journey so far within both the workplace and the college. Their honest reflections gave students a real understanding of what it is like to balance work responsibilities with academic study.
Dylan and Leart discussed the skills they have developed through their apprenticeships including communication teamwork and time management. They also spoke about the support they have received from both their employer and the college which has helped them grow in confidence and progress in their roles. Hearing directly from apprentices currently in industry helped students see how classroom learning links directly to real world practice.
Students were encouraged to ask questions and take part in discussions which allowed them to think more deeply about their own future options. Many left the event feeling more informed and confident about considering apprenticeships as a potential next step.
Overall the Apprenticeship Pathways and Employer Insight event was an engaging and informative experience. It successfully connected students with real industry insight and showcased how apprenticeships within LSBU Group can open doors to meaningful and sustainable careers.
