Enrolling at college is an exciting first step in your next chapter — but if you’re not properly prepared, it can turn into a long wait.

To help make your enrolment smooth, fast, and frustration-free, here's your quick guide with top enrolment tips .

Whether you’re enrolling at Lambeth College (Clapham or Brixton campus) or London South Bank Technical College (Nine Elms campus), these tips will help you avoid delays and make the most of your day.

1. Bring Your Enrolment Number

Once you apply, you’ll be sent an enrolment appointment by email or text — including your student enrolment number. This is what front desk staff use to look you up in the system and book you in.

📧 Search your inbox or phone for “South Bank Colleges" or "Enrolment”.
No enrolment number? Let reception know, and we’ll try to look you up using your full name and date of birth. But this takes longer and may delay your check-in. Having ID handy will help look your name up faster.

2. Know Which Campus to Go To

Please check carefully which campus your course is based at — turning up at the wrong location means you may need to travel to a different site.

For example:

  • Health and Social Care → Nine Elms

  • ESOL (Adult) → Brixton

  • Business → Clapham

🏫 The full list of courses and campuses is available on our enrolment page.

3. Thinking About More Than One Course?

Still undecided on your course? That’s okay — but be aware that not all course teams are based at the same location. You may need to visit two different campuses to speak with tutors and decide what’s right for you.

💡 Try to plan ahead and book time to speak with course teams in advance — this can avoid unnecessary travel or delays.

4. Returning Student? Let Us Know

If you’re coming back to college for your second year, make sure to let the front desk know early on, and have your student badge number handy. You’ll be moved into the correct part of the enrolment process and won’t be mixed in with new applicants.

This will save you time — and help the team manage queues more efficiently.

5. Haven’t Applied Yet?

If you haven’t yet applied online for a course, you won’t be in the system and have an enrolment number, and unfortunately you can’t start enrolling until that’s done.

✅ You can still apply online from your phone or speak to someone at the Help to Apply desk — but bear in mind this will add time to your visit.

South Bank Colleges' courses are incredibly popular and often fill up fast. Apply as early as possible and attend your enrolment on time, to get onto your first-choice course.

6. Bring the Right Documents

To enrol, you’ll need to show certain documents, depending on your age, course, and circumstances.

Typically, we’ll ask for:

  • Proof of identity (passport, birth certificate, or residency documents).

  • Proof of educational qualifications (school or college certificates).

  • EHCP (if aged 19–24 and you have one).

  • Payslips or benefit documents (for adult learners who may qualify for free study).

🧾 If you don’t have the right documents, you may be asked to return another day — which can be frustrating for you and adds to delays for others.

Double-check your email for the full list of what to bring. If unsure, ask admissions before your visit: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

7. Book Out the Day

Enrolment isn’t a five-minute process — especially if you’re doing English and maths assessments or speaking with Additional Learning Support.

⏳ Some students complete everything in 2–3 hours, while others may be here for most of the day depending on their needs.

Please don’t book appointments or work shifts too close to your enrolment time — give yourself the space to complete the process fully.

8. Need Help or Support?

Our admissions and course teams are here to help — whether it’s choosing the right course, understanding funding, or arranging support like British Sign Language interpreters.

The earlier you get in touch, the more we can do to make things easier for you on the day.
